At Old Sturbridge Village, we interpret the resilient character of early Americans. We raise livestock and grow vegetables on our farms. We make our own tools, furniture and textiles. And we help our visitors to connect with our national roots in a positive way.

In this spirit of independence we invite you to join a new group at the Village -- our Independence Society -- and encourage you to help us build our first annual Field of Flags.


Since our celebration of Independence Day on July 4th, and only through our Redcoats & Rebels encampment on August 7-8, our goal is to place 5,000 American flags (made in the U.S.) at the entrance of our museum. For every gift of $25, we will add one American flag to our Field of Flags in celebration of our country's birth over 200 years ago.

Each gift of $25 will not only sponsor a flag, it will also provide a free field trip to the Village for one underprivileged student next year.  Many lower-income children are left behind because their schools cannot afford a trip to OSV. 

You may also sponsor a flag in memory of a loved one or military veteran.

Will you help to grow our Field of Flags by sponsoring as many as you can? Our goal is to raise $125,000, and bring 5,000 underprivileged young people to the Village. Your gift will help us to inspire the next generation of historians, craftsmen, and community leaders.
