Summer at Old Sturbridge Village

Summer is a great time to see the gardens at Old Sturbridge Village. From the kitchen garden at Freeman Farm to the formal Pleasure Garden at the Towne House, to the Woodland Walk, to the Herb Garden with its colorful antique roses, there's so much growing on!

Redcoats & Rebels
August 7, 2010 - August 8, 2010
 

The largest military re-enactment in New England -- more than 800 soldiers portraying British, Hessian, Irish, Welsh, Scottish, French and Colonial troops. Mock battles, cannon demonstrations, fife and drums and more.

 
Free Fun Friday at Old Sturbridge Village

The “Free Fun Fridays” program invites Massachusetts residents and tourists to visit for free a designated museum or attraction over ten Fridays this summer.  Please note that you do not need to register or obtain a ticket.  Just show up and enjoy!   OSV's Free Fun Friday is made possible by the Highland Foundation.

Textile Weekend

A new needlework exhibit in the Firearms & Textiles building focusing on young ladies' needlework and ornamental arts from the OSV collection. 

 
EXHIBIT: Convenient and Fashionable:
Furniture of Inland Massachusetts, 1790-1830
October 24, 2009 - September 12, 2010
 

This exhibit on display through early September features rarely-seen pieces of early Massachusetts furniture from the OSV collection and on loan from private collectors.

 
EXHIBIT: Farm, Families and Change
May 23, 2009 - December 31, 2015
 

The museum's newest permanent exhibit, Farm, Families and Change, includes new displays in three of the Village's restored barns.  The exhibit addresses questions that resonate today:  "Where does our food come from?" and "Why does the New England landscape look the way it does?"

The Stagecoach is Here!  $

$3 per person, in addition to Village admission
 

Catch a ride on OSV's stagecoach, operating daily through foliage season, then on weekends in November. Get a feel for early New England travel aboard the reproduction Concord coach, then stop into the Bullard Tavern to learn about the ins and outs of getting from here to there in early New England.
